It's the first practice. Your back against the cold, dented locker, you take your spot on the floor, waiting. A posse of other hopefuls surrounds you. A tense excitement is palpable. Or maybe you're the coach, and feel that same electricity. What will the season bring? you ponder. How will these kids perform? How can you help them find their potential? Inhaling deeply, you scan the faces and begin.

There is nothing like a new athletic season, full of promise for both coach and athlete. Goals are set, commitments made. But as the season progresses, it's all too easy to lose focus in the fray. Best Season Yet 12 Weeks to Train is a book (with integrated journal) that guides the coach and team to embrace their God-given talents, discover a purpose beyond winning and losing, and spur each other to that place where fear and dreams collide. For a dozen weeks, the entire team will visit themes such as commitment, submission, goal setting, pain and suffering, and pursuing excellence. It offers an opportunity to discuss and journal practical ways to set the principles in motion. The format of five easy-to-read stories is ideal for use in a Monday-through-Friday school setting.

Best Season Yet is a resource for the coach, team member, or individual athlete who desires to experience an exceptional season.

Best Season Yet A Daily Devotional for Athletes edition by Rebekah Trittipoe Religion Spirituality eBooks

Let me begin by saying I have never been an athlete or even part of a sports team for that matter. My school interests ran the way of the stage, not a court or field. Why then would I choose to read Rebekah Trittipoe's "Best Season Yet: 12 Weeks to Train"...Athlete's Edition?!?

I kept coming across Mrs. Trittipoe's quotes from her book in a well used media outlet, and they intrigued me, encouraged and testified to me but most of all they moved me! Literally! MOVED me to get going...to begin pursuing more than just a healthier me...to pursue the higher purpose of health that each of His own is called to: a life lived in and through the power of Christ.

Trittipoe's book, "Best Season Yet: 12 Weeks to Train" uses a 12 theme format with 5 devotionals for each of the 12 weeks. Each devotional contains authentic stories from real life situations while alternating both modern and biblical heroes of the Faith. Each day introduces a principle or truth as revealed in scripture, opening up scriptural references to athleticism in a way I had never before related to, but now I find enriching and unforgettable!

You will find, as I did, Rebekah Trittipoe's style is engaging, straight forward, and deceptively simple in approachability. Perfect for both the young athletes in your life, or like me, the one hidden in your own heart!

Best Season Yet A Daily Devotional for Athletes edition by Rebekah Trittipoe Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

"Best Season Yet" is targeted toward training athletes. Coach Rebekah Trittipoe, the author, may have underestimated the appeal and usefulness of her book to all people--young and old--who find themselves contributing their talents to work with others toward a common goal.

In high school, I participated in Cross Country, Winter Track, and Spring Track. I was far from a distinguished athlete. Because of my asthmatic lungs, most of my performances could have been measured as effectively by sundials as they were by stopwatches. Despite my "scrub" status, I learned valuable lessons about what it takes to be part of a team.

I'm a musician by profession. During the past five decades, I've sung in numerous choirs and played in several bands and orchestras.

My first piano teacher told me "athletics and music don't mix." With due respect to my beloved instructor, I contend that they do indeed mix.

There are extraordinary similarities between what it takes to be a successful as an athletic team member and what it takes to be successful as a member of a performing group in music, dance, or drama committing oneself to the group and its mission, submitting to the authority of the leader, motivating oneself to achieve personal and group goals, battling performance anxiety, dealing with injuries and illnesses, persevering when quitting seems like an attractive option, reacting positively to failure, using ones talents to serve others, working together, pursuing excellence, maintaining balance and perspective on ones endeavors, and finishing "like a pro."

Rebekah Trittipoe, a gifted athlete and coach, happens to use athletics to explain and apply these timeless Christian principles for success, but those principles transcend athletics and even the performing arts.

Any group of people who must work with others toward a common goal could benefit from reading "Best Season Yet." Concepts that benefit teams and performing groups can also enhance the efforts of people in businesses, community organizations, and--dare I say it--churches.

The book is extremely well organized for its stated purpose. Each of the twelve weeks of a typical athletic season is devoted to one of the principles for success listed above.

For each day of the week, then, there is a brief, extremely engaging reading in which Trittipoe moves seamlessly from 21st Century events to Biblical events in order to illustrate various aspects of Christian faith that apply to athletic success.

There is a quotation from Scripture, a provocative question, and space provided in which each athlete can write his or her response to the question.

The reading for each day and the followup question can be accomplished in five-to-ten minutes at the beginning, during the middle, or near the end of a practice. Coach Trittipoe is well aware of the preciousness of practice time, and so she has created "Best Season Yet" with that practical factor in mind.

As an amateur athlete and professional musician, I highly recommend "Best Season Yet" to any group member who needs motivation and inspiration to work together with others toward a common goal.
BEST SEASON YET 12 Weeks to Train is like its author inspiring, practical, thorough, personal, biblical, and incredibly helpful. It provides twelve weeks of challenge and motivation for anyone who wants to be the best he or she can be. It is divided into weeks of training exercises and daily applications that make perfect sense and build day by day and week by week in a logical and inspiring flow.

Best of all, I can vouch for the author's knowledge and experience, and the careful and thorough attention she gave to making this the best possible resource. As the numerous endorsements in the books opening pages attest, she knows whereof she speaks--as an athlete and coach herself, and as an inspiration. She wouldn't say that, but I do.

BEST SEASON YET 12 Weeks to Train is one-of-a-kind resource for athletes and coaches. But even if it weren't, it would be the best.
This is a inspirational, concise devotional book for any sports enthusiast. It reminds even us older athletes that the real focus of our physical pursuits should be strengthening our bodies, minds and souls to better serve our Creator. I can see lots of great uses for this book not just for sports teams but in families where everyone is busy running to and from all the kids' sports activities.
I started reading the Athlete's Edition with the idea of passing it along to my 12 year old daughter. We are Rebekah Trittipoe devotional fans already and though my daughter is only mildly interested in sports, I am certain she will love this book too. She plays only volleyball and is more into the arts, but I am certain she will benefit from the many valuable lessons about commitment, perseverance, overcoming struggles, etc. These lessons transcend sports and will be useful in all aspects of life. These are lessons that many young people need guidance with today. I plan on getting the Coach's Edition for myself next - as a P.E. teacher and Youth Leader, I can already see applications in both of those arenas that will help me as I lead young people to be the best they can be. Thanks Rebekah for sharing your gift once again!
